A grandfather who sculpted. A grandmother and her flowers. A mother passionate about fragrances. The founder of ORMAIE looks for excellence in art. ORMAIE is a house of creation. It is family-owned. ORMAIE has brought together artists and artisans to write each chapter of its story.
Ormaie was founded in late 2018, by Baptiste Bouygues and his mother Marie-Lise Jonak, the creative director. Bouygues tells the stories and she translates them with the perfumers into fragrances, candles and soaps. At Ormaie, family takes center stage: it is a legacy, which means there is a long-term vision, no shortcuts.
Ormaie was the first maison to create 100 percent natural fragrances: the process takes longer than other materials. Perfumers have to wait three weeks between each test to smell it, as they have to wait for the molecules to come together. When it is time for production, they have to wait another three months for the fragrances to mature. Then the perfume is bottled. “It's like an aged wine,” Bouygues says.
